Horizontal Grandeur

June 24 2013
The Stevens County Historical Society & Museum, located in Morris, MN, is opening its sixth annual juried art exhibition celebrating art on the prairie..  The title comes from Bill Holm's essay, "Horizontal Grandeur", and eligibility is limited to artists residing in states or provinces with a prairie, and pieces with a "prairie-related" theme.  One of my collage pieces  ("Nebraska Prairie, 1916") will be included and I'm thrilled because I have an ancestral connection to this area.  My great-great ancestors arrived in that area from Norway in 1866, later slowly making their way westward through North Dakota and Montana, until finally we arrived at the  western-most edge of this wonderful country. So, it's lovely to send one of my pieces back "home" to Minnesota...thanks for including me in this wonderful exhibition.  The exhibit runs from July 11 through October 28, 2013. Find it here.
